Sydneysiders can snap up the Blumberg family’s $11 million Vaucluse waterfront reserve home, but you’ve missed out on Richard and Lilli Kaljo’s dream home that’s sold for about $10.5 million.
The four-bedroom home in Vaucluse’s dress circle at 26A The Crescent — home to Carleen and Michael Blumberg for 42 years — looks a magnificent opportunity for an astute purchaser.
Its $11 million guide — ahead of a November 16 auction via Sotheby’s managing director Michael Pallier — will be attractive since the homes either side have sold for much more.

Cosmetic surgeon and hotel mogul Jerry Schwartz and his wife, Debbie sold their seven-bedroom waterfront reserve home on a 1024 block at 24 The Crescent for $17 million in 2015.
And Menulog co-founder Dan Katz and his wife Nicole paid $20.3 million for their five-bedroom waterfront at 28A The Crescent on an 893 sqm block in 2016.
The Blumbergs’ property is on a smaller 549 sqm block, though, and you’ll need to BYO bulldozer or at least be prepared for a major renovation.
But in the end you’ll own a dream home on an extra wide block — it boasts a 16-metre harbour frontage — and panoramic, never to be built out, north westerly harbour views. There’s even a boat shed.

No such task awaits the eastern suburbs family that bought the Kaljo home up on the hill at 10A Dalley Ave, which I described as “a slice of heaven” in the Wentworth Courier House of the Week.
The well-built three-level, five-bedroom home on a huge 1,173 sqm block, with manicured gardens and a pool, has iconic harbour views.
Kate Zuppicich and Elliott Placks of Ray White Double Bay and Michael Paraulakis and Brad Pillinger of Pillinger were all bound by a confidentiality agreement, unable to disclose the sale price.
Other sources, though, put the result at about $10.5 million, which is a big price.
It had been for sale in an expressions of interest campaign, initially with a $13 million guide.
The Kaljos are planning to downsize to an apartment. “ We want a view … somewhere up high,” the businessman told me at the time.
