This modern family home at 51 Terence Ave, Lake Munmorah, features a tropical backyard with a unique fibreglass pool made from a shipping container.
Owner Steve Barnes said that he and his wife saw a similar pool featured on the renovation series House Rules and thought that it would suit the shape of their block.
A marine mechanic, Mr Barnes said that the pool was a logical, low maintenance option for their rear entertainment area, which now has a unique, resort-style vibe.

“My wife described the style as ‘Industrial Balinese’,” he said.
“We spent thousands on the landscaping — the rear yard looks completely different to when we moved in.”
The space now includes a lush lawn surrounded by landscaped gardens, timber walkways, integrated lighting plus a 5-person outdoor spa.
Back at the entrance of the property, step inside the grand entrance to arrive at a foyer that leads to an open kitchen and dining area that flow to a covered deck.
Featuring high ceilings and polished bamboo floors, the contemporary kitchen includes an L-shaped breakfast bar and stainless steel appliances.
“The house has been architect-designed and the ceilings are ridiculous — they really open up the house,” Mr Barnes said.
Ground floor also includes a spacious main bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.
Head upstairs to find three more bedrooms, a bathroom, study and family room.
“The top floor has some great views — from one of the boys rooms, you can see the ocean and all the way to Birdie Island.”
Having resided at the property for five years, the family are relocating interstate for work, but Mr Barnes said if that wasn’t the case, his family would always choose to live in Lake Munmorah.
“I love the fact that it’s so quiet here, yet your ten minutes from the shops at Lake Haven, the beach and the lakes” he said.
