Young “trendy” buyers were out in force for a Seddon auction, pushing a charming townhouse more than $100,000 past reserve.
A couple who’d recently moved over from New Zealand and were renting nearby outlasted four other groups with a $913,500 final bid.
The three-bedroom 1 Bristow St will become their family home.

A doctor and upsizing young couples, all attracted to the “hip” suburb and low price point, missed out.
“It’s probably the last 10 years (Seddon) has become very, very trendy,” Village Real Estate Seddon agent John Luong said.
“It’s become a bit more hip than Yarraville — Seddon is the new cool.”
Mr Luong said the property’s location, across the road from Footscray City Primary School and surrounded by lifestyle perks, was a major appeal.
It only took a handful of bids for the price to surpass the $790,000 reserve, as the auction started strongly.
“There was definitely a lot of people who didn’t get the opportunity (to bid),” Mr Luong said.
“It just ticked all the boxes for a lot of people.”
Mr Luong said the volume of available housing stock was down 40 per cent on previous years in his patch, giving buyers fewer options and pushing good listings up in price.
