House With Replica Galley Ship

Well shiver my timbers, a northern beaches house with a replica galley ship in the rumpus is for sale and cannons, rigging even the 12-seater Captain’s table are included.

The almost nine metre long home cinema in the Newport home is decked out as a pirate ship with heavy wooden beams, curved timber walls, even ship’s lanterns, pulleys and rigging for the cannons.

What started as a Spanish mission style home on almost 1000sqm of land overlooking Bungan Beach has been taken to the next level by owners Nishith and Kokil Parikh.

The couple loved the wooden panelling already in the home cinema but decided to enhance the nautical theme and fitted out the large room with ship’s wheel, plaster cast replicas of old cannons and pulleys and ropes from wrecked ships.

“Our children have had movie parties and their friends loved to come over for sleepovers and dances,” Mr Parikh said.

The themed home cinema

The beamed ceiling, and the Captain’s table and matching twelve chairs that are staying with the property.

A sneaky bar off the rumpus was great for mixing up cocktails and there is also a secret wine cellar. The rumpus off the home cinema is a full 12.4m long room with a 12-seater Captain’s table that stays with the house.

The surround sound of the cinema meant that the timber reverberated when movies were played lending a lifelike feature to films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Master and Commander.

There are even ship features in the rest of the Barrenjoey Rd home. The main bedroom has a central light fitting in the shape of a ship’s wheel and the kitchen has solid timber galley-style cabinets.

Note the light fitting, and the sea view.

Even the timber semicircular alfresco entertaining area feels like a ship’s deck and it has easterly views over Bungan Beach and out to sea.

“Every day the sky is different, the sunrises are spectacular the stars are glorious and you hear the sounds of the waves at night,” Mr Parikh said.

The couple, both retired, are happy to leave the ship features with the property. They intend to undertake their own journey, north to Europe, but not necessarily by boat.
