Coronavirus has hit every industry hard, and music is not immune.

The cancellations of tours and festivals have been progressing steadily around the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Expect that to ramp up now in Australia.

The Federal Government is "advising against" organised, non-essential events involving more than 500 people from Monday, March 16 onwards.

Here are all the shows, tours and festivals that are either cancelled or likely to be affected.

Keep this list handy. We will update it as we confirm the situation with individual events.

These events are not happening

Pixies, RVG tour

Pixies have postponed the rest of their Australian tour.

Dark Mofo

The winter Hobart festival, which was to run from 11 – 22 June, has been cancelled.

At this stage, headline act Bon Iver will still play their scheduled shows on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June.

Download Festival

The third Australian iteration of the Download Festival has been cancelled. Italian band Lacuna Coil were early withdrawals, but a postponement from headliners My Chemical Romance has made the festival untenable.

Ability Fest

Founder Dylan Alcott said the festival, due to feature The Preatures, I Know Leopard and others, would not go ahead on April 4 in Melbourne.

Wine Machine

The festival that combines combines plonk and live music is curated by Hot Dub Time Machine, and has shows in wineries around the country this month with a line-up featuring The Jungle Giants, The Naked And Famous.

Organisers have announced they've had to reschedule Wine Machine in the ACT, VIC, and WA. However, the NSW event "taking place in the Hunter Valley this Saturday will proceed as planned with additional precautionary measures being taken."

Jamie XX, Avalanches DJs charity show

This was supposed to be a one-off climate change benefit in Sydney on March 14 at Hordern Pavilion.

Organisers said rescheduled dates would be announced soon.

Live, Bush, Stone Temple Pilots tour

This trio of 90s rock acts were set to the tour the country together next month, but organisers have now postponed the tour until 2021.

Jimmy Eat World

The American pop-punk band were scheduled to appear at Download, but also have a few headline dates in Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle lined up in mid-March.

These events are in doubt

Bluesfest

It is supposed to be happening in April over Easter, bringing more than 10,000 music fans together and featuring artists from around the world.

Crowded House and Alanis Morissette are among the major acts.

On Friday, after the Prime Minister's announcement, organisers said in a Facebook post they were "now awaiting the official requirement from federal and state authorities on Monday and will respond at that time".

New Order tour

The band have two shows left on their tour, both in Melbourne. One is at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the other at the Forum.

Both are before the Monday start of the Government's proposed cancellation period.

We've been told they are going ahead with the shows, and Arts Centre Melbourne said on its website on Friday the Music Bowl show was still on, but things are moving fast.

We've contacted their touring company for an update.

Tame Impala

April's arena tour is meant to be a huge homecoming for one of our best-loved music exports.

Groovin The Moo

The regional touring festival goes down over April and May, bringing a mix of international and local artists to Wayville, Canberra, Bunbury, Bendigo, Townsville, and Maitland.

Gang of Youths, Tones And I, Clairo, The Veronicas are set to perform. ABC has contacted Groovin The Moo for comment.

Splendour In The Grass

Australia's biggest winter music festival is scheduled to celebrate its 20th anniversary in July with headliners Flume, The Strokes, and Tyler, The Creator.
The Federal advice doesn't actually have an end date, so it's unclear how it might affect Splendour, but organisers are no doubt assessing the situation as it develops. You'll know more as soon as we do.
