The NRL has issued four players with breach notices for "bringing the game into disrepute" by flouting social distancing laws amid the coronavirus pandemic.
South Sydney's Latrell Mitchell and Melbourne's Josh Addo-Carr have each been handed $50,000 fines, with 60 per cent of that suspended until the end of the season.
Penrith player Nathan Cleary and Newcastle's Tyronne Roberts-Davis have been issued with $10,000 fines, with 60 per cent of those also suspended.
Each player has been handed a one-game ban, however that is also suspended.
Acting CEO of the NRL Andrew Abdo said the penalties have been structured in a way to give the players a chance to demonstrate they can abide by the safety measures moving forward.
The players now have five days to respond to the breach notices.
It comes after NSW Police confirmed yesterday Mitchell, Addo-Carr and Roberts-Davis have been fined $1,000 for the getaway.
Photos and videos posted to Addo-Carr's Instagram account showed the group huddled around a camp fire at Mitchell’s property on the state’s Mid-North Coast.
There were also photographs showing a group of men, including the players, shooting guns and riding dirt bikes at South West Rocks.
Roberts-Davis was not in the photos around the camp but was sprung in another image posted of the group dirt biking.
NSW's coronavirus social-distancing laws prevent non-essential travel and gatherings of people who do not already live together.
Meanwhile, NSW Police has said it is looking into reports that Cleary broke social-distancing rules on Anzac Day.
Social media photos have emerged of him in close contact with a group of several women, reportedly taken at his home on Saturday.
"Police are aware of the images and are investigating," a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
More to come.
