The Department of Health has sent through its daily afternoon update. There was no additional information on the tracking, tracing and testing of contacts of the hotel quarantine worker above what we heard from the Health Minister this morning.
However it did have a bit of an update on the situation at Mt Beauty were there was “weak detection” of viral fragments in wastewater.
In response the department has set up the Mt Beauty Pop Up COVID-19 Testing Clinic which will operate this weekend from a clinic in Tennis Court Avenue from 9am-4pm on both days. It is a drive-through site and no appointment is required.
The department is urging anyone who lives in or has visited the Mt Beauty, Tawonga and Tawonga South area from 26 January to 1 February to get tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) if they have any symptoms, however mild.
Wastewater samples are taken at least weekly from 95 wastewater monitoring locations across Victoria, including 70 wastewater treatment plants, for early-warning of coronavirus (COVID-19).
There are several other locations where viral fragments were detected and the departement is urging anyone who lives in or has visited Lakes Entrance from 26 to 28 January, Castlemaine, Cowes, Hamilton, Pakenham or Warrnambool from 25 to 27 January, Gisborne from 24 to 26 January, or Leongatha from 17 to 19 January, to get tested if they have any symptoms.
