The Sydney Sixers fast bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott has joined the Clovelly cricketers’ cluster.

The couple snapped it up a week out from its scheduled late 2020 auction with the recent settlement details revealing their whisper quiet acquisition.

Set in a boutique 2001 development, it has two bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms.

The open plan living, kitchen and dining area has bi-fold doors which open to a northeast alfresco terrace. There’s also a 10m lap pool.

No doubt they were keen on the pet-friendly nature of the building — for their kelpie dog Bear — which was emphasised in its marketing by McGrath Coogee agent Mark McPherson.

Last sold for $1.5 million in 2014, it had been offered as $1250 a week rental as the pandemic hit last May, having previously been a $1395 a week rental offering.

Abbott, who was selected to appear in his second consecutive Big Bash final on Saturday night, has owned in North Kellyville since 2015 when he paid $1.22 million for a four-bedroom home built three years earlier. In recent years it’s been a $950 a week rental.

Off the field Abbott, who made his Australian T20 debut in 2014, isn’t the only Aussie fast bowler in Clovelly, which has become a hot spot for cricketers in recent years.

Pat Cummins, the No.1 fast bowler in the world, has owned his three- bedroom apartment with roof terrace since spending $1,362,500 in 2013. It has ocean views.

Abbott’s Sixers teammate, all-rounder Moises Henriques and wife, Kristy, spent $3,125,000 in 2018 on a dilapidated 1930s home which hadn’t sold in eight decades.

Clovelly’s median sits at $3,682,500 for houses and $1.4 million for apartments, after five years of sales has seen a compound growth rate of 10.9 per cent for houses and 5.9 per cent for units, according to realestate.com.au.

Abbott is from Windsor, on Sydney’s northwest fringe.
