The million-dollar sale of a beachside character home marks the highest recorded across South Australia in the past week.
CoreLogic records reveal the Henley Beach South bungalow at 154 Seaview Road was snapped up for $1.875 million, making it the top sale across the state in the past week.
Ray White Henley Beach principal Anthony Fahey, who sold the property with Jae Curtis, said they were inundated with inquiries and offers in the three weeks the house was on the market.
“We had eight offers on it within seven to eight days and we had 72 visitors through the first weekend,” he said.
“It was the proximity to the water (that attracted househunters) and it has got some exquisite views.”
Mr Fahey said the buyers were from country South Australia.
The bungalow, which was built in circa 1936 and renovated about a decade ago, has five bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Positioned on a roughly 823sqm elevated block, it has panoramic views of the Adelaide Hills and city to the east and some sea views to the west.
While it sold in a private treaty sale, Mr Fahey said they were trying to auction as many properties as possible because demand was so strong.
“It’s definitely a sellers market, we are primarily trying to auction as much as we can because it makes it nice and transparent for buyers,” he said.
Preliminary CoreLogic auction data shows Adelaide recorded the second highest clearance rate behind Canberra in the week to February 7.
The clearance rate reached 82.8 per cent on 85 auctions, compared to 53.8 per cent on 77 auctions at the same time last year.
