Intending Sydney Lord Mayoral candidate, councillor Christine Forster and her wife Virginia Flitcroft have listed their Surry Hills home of the past decade with plans to downsize.

The couple bought the five bedroom, 1880s Bourke St terrace for $1,285,000 in 2010.

Ray White Taylor + Partners agent Jeremy Brink has it scheduled for March 6 auction, with 18 parties through yesterday’s first open for inspection.

Surry Hills has 19 terraces currently for sale, with their declared prices up to $3 million, and its median at a record $1.8 million. Based on five years of sales, Surry Hills has seen a 5 per cent compound growth rate, according to realestate.com.au.

It had over 100 terrace sales last year, a record level, with Brink’s last terrace sale being $2.15 million for a four bedroom on Lansdowne St.

It is scheduled for auction on March 6.

Forster and Edwards spent $1.51 million on a two bedroom Potts Point apartment three years ago but it seems that is not to be their next home. The fourth level apartment sits in the 1951 Aaron M. Bolot-designed block on Wylde St and has been a $1095 a week rental. No doubt they will be staying within the City of Sydney council boundaries, ahead of this September’s local elections.
