A man has been charged with murder after the discovery of a woman's body in bushland in Sydney's north-west.

Police believe the body is that of Shereen Kumar, who was reported missing from her Dural home on Thursday morning.

Police found the body of a woman in bushland off Laurie Road, Dural, at about 5:50pm on Saturday.

The body is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be that of 43-year-old Ms Kumar.

At about 11:30pm yesterday, police arrested 37-year-old Vincent Carlino at a home on Taylors Road in Dural.

He was taken to Hornsby police station and charged with murder.

Mr Carlino was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

He appeared briefly in court, where he did not apply for bail and it was formally refused. 

Mr Carlino will be remanded in custody and is due face court again on September 13.
