The half-time action
G-Flip, Temper Trap and Goanna, among many others, bring the noise at the main break.

The main men
Plenty of standout contributors out there for Geelong, but these guys are leading the way:
- Patrick Dangerfield - 11 disposals, six clearances, 274 metres gained
- Isaac Smith - 15 disposals, two goals, 297 metres gained
- Tom Hawkins - three goals
- Sam de Koning - 12 disposals, five marks
For the Swans, Luke Parker is standing up with 13 disposals and 10(!) tackles, while Chad Warner is having a decent game too.

Key Event
HT: The Cats lead by 36 points at the long break
So Geelong win the second quarter by one point. All things considered, that's a good result for Sydney.
To an extent they stopped the bleeding - not because they got on top defensively, but because they got some reward for some braver ball movement late in that quarter.
But the Cats still look devastating going forward, and won't be too perturbed by what they have seen defensively. This one remains firmly on their terms, and Geelong will go into the sheds with a spring in their step.
It'll take a Sydney miracle from here. But at the end of this season, who knows?

2': Sam Reid is not fit
He really shouldn't be out there, he isn't moving freely and can not compete under any sort of physical pressure. The Swans took a gamble, and it isn't paying off.
And as we speak, he is heading down to the rooms.

3': Heeney kicks it! Swans hanging in there
Sydney have been better in this quarter and are refusing to lay down. It's been a quiet half for Heeney, but he can make an impact with only a handful of touches. Big two minutes before the break coming up.

3': There's Isaac Heeney! Welcome to the game
Heeney marks 35 from goal, and this will be his third possession of the half. Can he make it a goal?

4': Papley volleys out of mid-air, and misses
That was optimistic. But they are very much in the "why not?" stage of this game.

4': Lovely movement by Sydney
They chipped and moved their way from end to end that time, criss-crossing the MCG on the way. Those changes of angles meant they finally were able to find some spaces in the Cats defence. Stephens to line them up from 50... shanks it wide and short, and it's punched out for a throw in. Not ideal.

6': Heeeeere's Tomahawk!
It's the usual suspects! Dangerfield wins another big ball, Close claims the crumbs then straightens up to lace out Hawkins. For number four... he's missed. It's a 43-point lead.

6': Stengle slams it through! He has two in the grand final
Tyson Stengle, one of the stories of the season, has now bagged two before half-time in the GF. Every time the Swans look like sparking something, the Cats answer back immediately.

7': Stengle marks on the lead
And now this would hurt. Straight back out of the middle from Geelong, straight into the waiting arms of Stengle. He'll kick from just inside 50, 45 degree angle...

8': Callum Mills converts! Can that give the Swans life?
A punishing finish from Mills, who bangs that home post-high from 50. Warner was all effort and creativity in the build up and led to the Mills chance.

8': Wonderful footy from Chad Warner
He had three efforts there, almost single-handedly carrying the ball from half-back into the arms of Callum Mills on the 50. What can the skipper muster from there?

9': Never in doubt! Hawkins has three!
Just as the Swans were enjoying their best spell of the game, Hawkins slams that door back shut again. The Cats' forwards have been dominant, the Swans' unsighted.

10': Hawkins is held! He'll kick from the pocket
Again it was Dangerfield who emerged from congestion and pumped it forward to Hawkins, who was being held by Tom McCartin. Tough shot this from the pocket, but you'd back him...

12': Chance for Warner... out on the full
The Swans are coming to life a little, purely by taking risks. They're running and handballing and trying to force the difficult kicks. Not all are coming off, but chances are slowly coming.

14': McLean kicks Sydney's second! Back to 36 points
He was the man brought in for Logan McDonald, and he's had his first impact on the game. It all started from Sydney moving the ball quickly off half-back by hand, and even though the Cats defence folded in well to stop them, the Swans won a free kick and were able to go forward. McLean took a clever mark and converted.

14': McLean! A one-hander at the top of the square!
Boy how the Swans need this...

15': Another Cats behind rushed through
And so begins again Sydney's impossible task of moving the ball out of defence.
