24 Hurtle St, Ascot Vale - for herald sun real estate

Melbourne Victory managing director Caroline Carnegie is selling her family home at 24 Hurtle St, Ascot Vale.

Melbourne Victory managing director Caroline Carnegie and husband Shaun Risse

are hoping to score a top result for their “entertainer’s dream” Ascot Vale house.

The couple are selling the Edwardian-era home at 24 Hurtle St with a $2.79m asking price.

Ms Carnegie was appointed to the Victory role last year after working with other sports organisations including North Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne Rebels, Melbourne Renegades and Netball Australia.

She is also a Football Federation Australia Women’s Council member.

Ms Carnegie said she and Mr Risse were living in a different house on the same street when they inspected number 24 and “fell in love” with the home’s weatherboard facade, ornate ceilings and plantation shutters.

Their youngest daughter was two weeks old at the time.

Renovated and extended by its previous owners in 2015, the five-bedroom house includes a rumpus and cinema room, three bathrooms and main bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe featuring pullout shoe racks.

The kitchen and dining area has cathedral ceilings, a stone fireplace, concrete floors, and a stainless steel Artemide sculpture light.

Concertina doors open from the kitchen and meals zone to the undercover alfresco area.

The kitchen and casual meals domain boasts cathedral ceilings, a stone fireplace, stone island bench, stainless-steel Smeg appliances and butler’s pantry.

The alfresco area has a built-in barbecue and fridge alongside a solar-heated, salt-chlorinated pool.

“It’s an entertainer’s dream,” Ms Carnegie said.

“I love our kitchen, it’s massive and a great space for us to spend time with the family.

“The girls, now aged five and eight, do their homework while we’re cooking and it overlooks the pool.”

Up to 70 guests have attended Halloween celebrations and Christmas parties at the property, including employees from Mr Risse’s Altona North play and wellness centre, Relax&Play,

and members of Williamstown’s Barnstoneworth United Football Club, of which he is president.

“The neighbourhood is fantastic, the local schools are great and there are three parks within walking distance which we have visited since moving to the area,” Ms Carnegie added.

Nelson Alexander Ascot Vale partner Jon McKenna said the home had two street frontages and a garage accessed via Hunt Cres.

“It’s on a very good street, it’s high up on the hill so it’s not in the flood zone but is close to the Maribyrnong River’s parklands and trails,” Mr McKenna said.
