Rugby union star James Slipper has increased the rent on his Brisbane inner city home by just $5 in four years.

Wallabies Spring tour captain and former Qld Reds star James Slipper may hit beast mode on the field, but as a landlord he’s pretty kind, given his Qld rent has gone up $5 in four years.

Fresh off the Spring tour of five northern hemisphere nations, the man mountain who’s one of the most capped players on tour is getting his ducks in a row domestically. He’s listed his four bedroom Milton home for rent – though it won’t be available until January 13, 2023.

The home has that crucial Qld summer survival element – a backyard pool, the maintenance of which is included in the rent, though tenants must pay for chemicals.

The two-storey Queenslander has been listed at $1055 a week – with bond set at $6,330 – pretty generous considering it was $1050 a week to rent it in 2018 and Brisbane’s vacancy rates are still hovering around their tightest levels in decades.

He will also pay for maintenance of the lawns, garden and pool – though tenants pay for pool chemicals.

The national rugby union representative had bought the home – which is walking distance to Suncorp Stadium – for $905,000 a decade ago, two years into his professional rugby stint with the Qld Reds.

Traditional Queenslander features have been maintained in the home.

Property manager Gianna Perri of Ray White Paddington described it as a “beautiful two level Queenslander with in-ground pool”, with the backyard fully fenced.

The home has been set up to have a massive family room downstairs with built in bar, laundry and two bedrooms. Upstairs has a separate lounger, dining area, study nook, kitchen and two more bedrooms. The property also has off street parking for three cars and a remote front gate.
