Northern Territory Police and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) are searching for a light plane that was reported missing on Saturday.

- An air search commenced on Saturday afternoon
- Search and rescue aircraft have been deployed
The single-engine plane with two people onboard left Gove in East Arnhem Land around 8:30am, and was due to land in Katherine around midday.
"[It] has not been contactable since departing Gove," NT Police said in a statement.
"AMSA Response Centre was alerted early yesterday afternoon, and an air search for the aircraft commenced and will continue today."
AMSA said search and rescue aircraft have been deployed from Cairns and Essendon for the search, with additional assistance NT-based fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
"AMSA is urging anyone who may have seen the plane between Katherine and Gove to contact the AMSA Response Centre on 1800 815 257," AMSA said.
The NT has seen heavy rainfall and flooding in the last few days, as ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie continues moving inland, after making landfall late on Thursday.
