Police are investigating the death of a bus driver who was struck and killed by his own vehicle at a workers' camp at Moranbah in Central Queensland.

A police spokeswoman said early investigations suggested the bus struck the 62-year-old man about 7pm on Friday at the Bacon Street mining camp.

She said no passengers were on board at the time.

Paramedics were called about 8pm after reports the driver was in a critical condition, but the Brisbane man died at the scene.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland are also investigating the death, which has been deemed non-suspicious.

The police spokeswoman said the Forensic Crash Unit would submit their report to the coroner when complete.
