What’s your fragrance of choice? My mum wore Hugo Boss “Deep Red” when I was a kid and I loved it. She bought it for me a few years ago and I’ve been wearing it non-stop. It takes me back to that time.

Any go-to jewellery? For a tennis player, I’m playing with a lot of jewellery. I have sentimental pieces from my mum and grandma. And a yellow gold Tiffany & Co “T” bracelet and ring set that means a lot because it was my first big purchase after winning a tournament. I also have two tennis bracelets from Chris Evert’s line; the tennis bracelet was actually named after her little incident [when the bracelet fell off and play was stopped while she searched for diamonds that had fallen out] at the US Open in 1978.

Can you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child? I don’t really wear dresses now, but I loved them as a kid. There was a floral dress that my mum never wanted me to wear, so I’d put it on and hide.

What was your first fashion moment? Going to the Met Gala in 2021. The theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. I wore a beautiful dress by Dolce & Gabbana with the Statue of Liberty and “New York” on it. It was cool to experience a world you usually just look at on a screen. It was super fun.

And your worst fashion mistake? The one that still haunts me was on the Wimbledon red carpet about 10 years ago. The dress was beautiful, but it was my first time getting my hair and make-up done and it was a disaster – my tan lines were everywhere, the foundation didn’t match my skin… I went all-out; it was a lot.

What’s at the top of your wish list? A diamond tennis necklace. I set goals, so when I do something big this year, I’m going to treat myself.

Is there anything you would never wear? Ballerina flats.

Is there a current trend you like? Mid-rise jeans – the baggy, distressed ones. I’ve given up on skinny jeans.

Who’s your style muse? Zendaya slays every time. And I draw a lot of inspiration from Hailey Bieber’s street style.

What shoes do you wear most often? Nike “Dunks” or “Air Force 1″ sneakers.

What do you wear on a typical working day? Bike shorts and a cotton tee for training. When I’m competing, I like to take risks and mix it up with colours, collars, the skirt shape… I get bored quickly.

What’s your favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look? A denim skirt with a tank top and sneakers.
