Actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth has revealed she was "severely abused" by an ex-partner, in posts on social media.
The Broadway icon wrote about her experience in response to rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs's video apologising for an attack on his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura.
The apology came after American broadcaster CNN obtained footage that shows Ventura walking down a hotel hallway before Combs is seen running toward her wrapped in a towel.
He then appears to grab her and violently throw her to the ground, kicking her twice and dragging her along the floor.
The rapper and Ms Ventura settled in court after just one day in November.
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Chenoweth took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the footage.
"Honestly I have my reasons for the Sean Combs video bothering me so much," she wrote.
"The main thing I need to do is pray for him, for real."
"There is no excuse no matter what his defense is," she wrote in one Tweet.
"I was sick when I saw it," she wrote in another.
Later, in response to comments by other users, she wrote that the video bothered her as she was severely abused several years ago.
"Never wanted to come out with it, but here we go," she wrote.
"It took me therapy and prayer to understand I deserved better."
"I was deeply injured physically and spiritually."
She did not reveal who she was referring to.
But she said it was the lowest "I've been in my life".
"Maybe it helped someone".
Chenoweth, 55, is known for originating the role of Glinda in the Broadway musical Wicked and for roles in TV Shows such as Glee and The West Wing.
Hours after Combs released his apology video, Ventura's lawyers released a statement that said "Combs's most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt".
