WA police are investigating an alleged fatal hit and run near Jurien Bay, north of Perth, early Sunday morning.

Police say about 5:40am a vehicle travelling north on Indian Ocean Drive hit a 19-year-old woman who was standing next to a van parked on the side of the road.

As a result of her injuries, the teenager died at the scene.

Police allege the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued driving north.

Major Crash investigators are examining the scene about 4 kilometres south of Jurien Bay.

They are appealing for any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers.

Indian Ocean Drive is closed between Jurien Bay, south of Middleton, and Cervantes Road due to the fatal crash.

Motorists are advised to check with Main Roads for the latest on road closures.
