Perth Glory are on the hunt for their sixth senior men's coach in six years after confirming the departure of Alen Stajcic after just one season.

Glory revealed the news in a media release on Tuesday afternoon, saying Stajcic had "parted company" with the club.

Stajcic, 50, was handed a difficult task when he accepted the job, with the club in administration for much of the 2023/24 season and searching for new owners.

In February the club confirmed property developer Pelligra Group had taken over.

Stajcic has only completed one season at the helm, a disastrous campaign in which they finished bottom of the A-League table, punctuated by a 7-1 loss against Sydney FC and an 8-0 drubbing from Melbourne City.

'Existential concerns'

Stajcic said that after "personal reflection", he had decided to look for a "new challenge".

"The difficulties we faced this year were unique and consistent and took a great toll on most within the organisation," he said.

"I would like to thank the playing group for their efforts during a period when they faced existential concerns about our club and their careers."

Glory CEO Anthony Radich paid tribute to Stajcic for his professionalism during what he called "one of the most difficult seasons in the club's history".

"The courageous decision to take on this role in a period of unprecedented uncertainty and adversity is testament to Alen's great character and we are very grateful for that commitment," Radich said.

Revolving door

Glory said it expected to announce the appointment of a new men's coach later this week.

The person who replaces Stajcic will be the club's sixth senior coach since 2018.

After Kenny Lowe was sacked in April 2018, the club has been coached by Tony Popovic, Richard Garcia, Ruben Zadkovich and Stajcic.

The news came one day after the club revealed women's head coach Alex Epakis would step down from his role because of personal reasons.

Epakis had coached the Glory for four seasons.

After a bright start in their most recent campaign, the club finished third from the bottom after failing to register a win in their final 12 games.
