Falling trees killed six people in the Philippines after Tropical Storm Bebinca slammed into central and southern parts of the country on Friday, officials said.
Four children on the way home from school in the southern province of Lanao del Surthe's Malabang municipality were killed on Friday when a tree fell on the motorised tricycle they were riding during the storm, Christina Obina of the municipal police said.
"The wind was so strong, causing the tree to be uprooted," Ms Obina said.
In the Zamboanga Peninsula — at least 200 kilometres away from Malabang — a two-year-old girl and a woman were killed in two separate incidents due to trees falling on their houses, regional disaster official Angelito Casinillo added
Tropical Storm Bebinca displaced around 13,000 people and damaged roads and other infrastructure across the Philippines before passing on Saturday morning, local time.
The national disaster council said the storm also left the country with at least 11 people injured and two missing.
