Actor Nicolas Cage will be celebrating the release of his horrifying new film, Longlegs, by purchasing a knockout new home in Malibu for $15.6m (US$10.5m).

The 60-year old is closing on a stunning new beachfront mansion in an exclusive California neighbourhood, which is home to Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Robert Downey Jr., and Ellen DeGeneres.

It is understood that the Academy Award winner purchased the remarkable home through a trust, with seller, co-founder of Liberman Broadcasting Lenard Liberman, confirming that Cage had picked up his property.

“Yes, Nicolas Cage bought our home in Malibu,” Mr. Liberman told the New York Times.

The ocean-facing abode, which comes with a secluded beach and a rare roof deck, first appeared on the market in March for $16.7m (US$11.25m), according to Realtor.

But it was also been simultaneously offered for rent for $25,000 a month.

Before being listed in March 2024, the property had bounced on and off the market multiple times since the summer of 2022.

At one point it was seeking as much as $26.5m (US$17.9m).

By comparison, Cage secured a comparative bargain. But judging by the success of his most recent on-screen film, paying the full ask might not have been out of the question for him.

The actor and producer’s new horror film has become the “highest grossing independent film of the year,” with $100m at the box office, according to Variety.

The Con Air star is known to keep a full-time home in Nevada — but now he has a new perch to prop up at when the beach is calling.

The glass, contemporary, four-level house sits right on the beach, with entry through a private courtyard, or from the two-car garage with its own lift.

The living room has vaulted ceilings, a chic bar area, and a fireplace.

Floor-to-ceiling glass walls and sliding doors seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor spaces, such as ocean-facing decks and a rare rooftop space.

The third floor features four bedrooms with ensuites, along with a primary bedroom facing the Pacific Ocean, with a large bath, fireplace, and an ocean-facing deck.

The move is not the first time Cage has traded up in California, after he owned a San Francisco Victorian house for 16 years, which he bought for 1989.
