This week Harris Real Estate agent Tom Hector set himself an ambitions task – auction off 10 of his own listings in one day. One every hour from 9am to 6pm.
As far as anyone knows, it’s never been done before in SA.
Why exactly? And why on a Wednesday?
“I’m definitely keen on being an advocate of change in the industry in South Australia, because everyone’s governed by weekend inspections and auctions and, with a Wednesday auction – if they’re prepared to take the day off work that means they’re serious,” he said.
“Also, every single one of those properties has got an advertised price, so there are no “contact agents” – buyers know what the price guide is so they know roughly what the property’s going to sell for, depending on the market conditions on the day.”
Going into it his strategy was simple:
“I’ll trust the process as I always do and the outcome will follow,” he said.
