For years now the Geelong Cats have been turning heads with their end-of-season costumes.
Originally part of Mad Monday — and now Wacky Wednesday as they take a little more time to wind down — Geelong's reputation is such that Getty Images sends a snapper out to catch all the action as the players head to the event.
This year it was no different.
While some outfits don't take much explaining, others require a little bit of background. Some, we'll completely honest, we don't know what to make of them.
Here's the best of Geelong's Wacky Wednesday for 2024.
Tom Hawkins as Anthony Ammirati
The retiring Cats champion could have been mistaken for any old French athlete from the Paris Olympics, but the pole through the front of his shorts is a decent clue that he's channelling Anthony Ammirati.
Ammirati made headlines during Paris 2024 not for his success, but for the way he failed to get over the bar in the pole vault.
We'll leave it at that, but if you need any more explanation on what happened, ABC Entertainment's Velvet Winter has you covered.
Bruhn, Blicavs and Holmes as McLure, Reid and Cleary
This one requires a little bit more backgrounding.
Tanner Bruhn is dressed as journalist Sam McClure, Max Holmes looks uncanny as Channel 7's Mitch Cleary, and Mark Blicavs is playing the part of West Coast's number one draft pick Harley Reid.
Before the draft, McClure was unequivocal in a discussion with Cleary on a podcast that West Coast wouldn't take Reid with the number one draft pick because of the risk he would want to return home to Victoria at some point.
Ultimately he was wrong.
The Eagles did pick Reid, and the teenager starred.
For the footy nuffie, this is the costume choice that has probably earned the most laughs.
Jeremy Cameron as Russell Coight
The Geelong spearhead has become well-known for posting videos from his Freshwater Creek farm online, and for being a bit of larrikin along the way.
So it's apt that Cameron rocked up as Australia's favourite fictional bushy, Russell Coight.
And honestly, the resemblance is uncanny.
Here's hoping Cameron avoids in the off-season the sort of tumbles Coight often finds himself in.
