Adelaide’s hottest auction of the past week did not disappoint, with nine registered bidders fighting tooth and nail to secure one of the first homes to grace Parkside.
The two-bedroom home at 133 Leicester St, sold under the hammer for $845,000, $145,000 above its auction price guide.
The home was South Australia’s most viewed auction listing on realestate.com.au last week, proving particularly popular with older professionals and downsizers, according to selling agent John McRostie of Belle Property.

“There were a lot of younger people that would have liked to afford it but I had to tell them that I think they would have difficulty with finance … as the property sits on an (old English-style) title that is hard to finance, and with that you’ve got to have probably 30 per cent or 40 per cent deposit,” he said.
“So in the end, we got a lot of interest from more mature buyers … and it sold to an elderly chap that bought it for himself to live in.”
Mr McRostie said the home had been meticulously maintained by the vendor who had owned the property for the past 41 years.
Two good-sized bedrooms featured brand-new carpet, while a cosy studio or hobby room at the rear of the property, offered a versatile space for creative endeavours or additional living needs.
Outside, a verdant garden created fairy-tale cottage appeal and also provided access to a rear lane bike/walkway.
“The home, it was just so cute,” Mr McRostie said.
“It was not large but they had a lovely garden and rear access, so it was just a very quaint little place and they come up like that often, where they are generally very well maintained over a long period of time.
“So this was a very special home to sell.”
