Matilda Scholz has taken arguably the greatest mark in AFLW history while lifting Port Adelaide to an eight-point win over Collingwood and into the top eight.

The Power's 4.9 (33) to 3.7 (25) victory at Alberton on Thursday night gave the team their first three-game win streak since entering the competition in 2022.

It was highlighted by a dream-like third quarter, in which Gemma Houghton kicked a contender for goal of the year, before Scholz definitely locked up mark of the year (and then some).

Deep in the third quarter, Maria Moloney drove the ball deep into the forward 50 and 19-year-old Scholz charged into the pack, leapt, slammed her knee into the shoulder of a Collingwood defender and took a flying grab high above her head.

It will no doubt be the mark of the season and will take some beating as the finest grab in AFL Women's history.

The teen ruck modestly described her stunning take as a "bit of a fluke" but Melbourne forward Tayla Harris, no stranger to history-making moments of her own, labelled it "unreal" on social media.

Scholz went back and slotted the goal, adding a major to her game-winning performance that also included 15 contested possessions, 10 hit-outs and nine clearances.

Five minutes of game time earlier, with Port down five, Houghton stepped into the ruck in the forward pocket.

The former Fremantle Docker outworked Imogen Barnett, and in one motion caught the ball on her chest, pivoted away from the contest toward the boundary line, and snapped from the tightest of angles.

Port posited on social media that it was goal of the year, to which Scholz agreed.

"It certainly felt like a gritty win," Port coach Lauren Arnell said.

"Really pleased with our midfield and the way they stuck it out and reset at half-time.

"Our mids were able to grind it out when it was an overly contested game of footy."
