This sprawling family home has grown alongside a family for the past two decades and is now ready for new owners to make it their own.

The six-bedroom house at 22 Edinburgh Cres, Brinkin, features a climate-controlled wine cellar, parents’ sanctuary and a private indoor-outdoor bathing space, all on a 1280sq m block backing onto bushland.

The owner said he and his wife bought the property 20 years ago and have raised their four children in the home.

“We renovated it before we moved in and did a big renovation about 10 years ago, adding another storey and we changed it quite a bit,” he said.

“We had teenage kids coming along and they wanted space and we wanted a guest room.

“So we built our own retreat upstairs and turned the master bedroom into a guest room.

“We weren’t on top of each other and everyone had their space.”

The entire home feels light, bright and modern with open spaces, and feature stained-glass panels in the entry.

On the ground floor, the home has an open-plan lounge and dining room and an open-plan kitchen, family and rumpus area.

“The kitchen is fantastic – it’s open and spacious with a lot of benchspace,” the owner said.

“And it’s central, so you’re always part of what’s going on.”

The kitchen has European appliances, a butler’s pantry, granite benchtops and the climate-controlled wine cellar.

“There’s also stacker doors that open the home to the pool area and let the cool breezes through during the dry season,” he said.

The covered outdoor space includes a barbecue area and plenty of room for dining and lounge zones – all overlooking the in-ground pool.

On the ground floor there is also a guest room with walk-in robe and ensuite, a second bedroom with built-in robe and three more bedrooms, all with built-ins, with easy access to the family bathroom and powder room.

The parents’ retreat takes up the second level and includes a sitting room, private balcony, walk-in wardrobe and a stunning ensuite.

The bedroom has a wall of glazing looking out to native bush, while the huge ensuite has a double shower and sliding doors to the indoor-outdoor bathing space with freestanding tub and louvres opening to the bush view.

“Our bedroom is magnificent,” the owner said. “On Sunday mornings we’d lie in a bit and watch the kites and other birds circling.

“You’d see the seasons change in the bushland out the back.

“In the wet season everything comes to life and bushes out and in the dry season it dies back.”

The property also comes with established landscaping, plenty of lawn space, Cbus home automation, solar power, a security system and a triple garage.

“It’s a bit emotional selling it,” the owner said. “It’s been a great family home for us for the last 20 years and it would be nice for another family to come in and take over.”
