A private funeral will be held in Melbourne today for an 11-year-old boy who died when a car crashed through a primary school fence in Melbourne's east.
Jack Davey was sitting at a table with four other students in the school yard of Auburn South Primary in Hawthorn East when the group was hit by a car on October 29.
Jack died on the way to hospital.
The four other students, aged 10 and 11, were injured.
Family and friends will remember him today and have asked for privacy.
A public fundraiser for the family has raised nearly $300,000.
The web page said the funds raised would help the family pay for funeral expenses and "to assist them to have time away from work during this heartbreaking time."
It described Jack as a valued member of the Titans basketball community, Gladiators football club and a keen futsal player.
In a statement, they said they were grateful for the incredible compassion shown by those who knew Jack and the wider community.
The 40-year-old driver was arrested on the day of the crash and interviewed by police.
She was released pending further enquires.
