It might seem like a normal collection of share house pix in a real estate listing, but this one raised eyebrows due to an unusual inclusion.

An Aussie share house listing has sent shudders over what renters may be tolerating in a tight market – though some admit in a different setting it might be ‘heaven’.

The rental listed on a share house group social media site, saying “rent includes furnished private room and bathroom” raised some serious questions when the only bathroom pictured was a portaloo.

The room was said to come with a bathroom.

The listing of a property in Sunnybank Hills in Greater Brisbane’s west, said there was no access to the kitchen and that international students or those on working holiday visas were welcome.

Social media was having none of it with one of the images of an outdoor portaloo seeing the listing flagged on popular Reddit forum sh*trentals.

“Private bathroom or portaloo? Came across this listing with a private bathroom … and photos of a portaloo,” a Redditor said. “Also, photos of a kitchen that you don’t have access to! Preying on the international student community in the area undoubtedly.”

“Wow. That’s next level. Does it even have a shower?” one user asked, with another helpfully pointing it out: “Guys, I think that’s a shower inside the porta potty. On the right hand wall, you’d be showering above that toilet.”

It drew laughs from some users: “It looks like it’s a plumbed-in toilet and not a straight-drop toilet. Snazzy.”

Others were outraged: “$200pw with no cooking or washing facilities? Like it’s cool you don’t have to sh*t in a bucket but surely we can expect more than that even if it was $50pw.”

There were no other images of bathrooms except the portaloo set up.

It includes a shower – over the toilet in the portaloo.

The whole thing was on the nose for most: “So you can’t use a kitchen, you’ll need to eat out all the time, and the external portaloo is a bit f*cking dodgy and is that shared with shower … in Sunnybank Hills. For $200pw – where’s the upside in this sh*t show?”

But it was the construction workers who threw in a curveball into the entire discussion, wondering what the fuss was about, with one admitting “if I came across a site toilet like this I would think I’d died and gone to porta-potty heaven”.

The listing includes a picture of a kitchen but it’s not included in the $200 a week rental price – presumably the tenant would have to pay more to use it.

A share house listing in the south of Brisbane has ignited controversy over its striking lack of usual features.

Another said: “Those site loo’s were beyond feral. I used to really study the guys on site and wonder how they’re still all alive bcos clearly their diets were killer”.

“There’s no way in hell I’d never use one of those either. One time at RAAF Tindall (middle of nowhere) even the site PM said mate, don’t go in there, just p*ss beside it.”

A renter close to Sunnybank Hills said “for same price (all bills inc) same location-ish I get not one but TWO real toilets plus a fully functioning kitchen!”

Another said: “what is the link?! My rental advertised a kitchenette downstairs. I went to use the sink and the tap felt loose and no water came on. I look under the bench and the copper pipes have been removed haha also in the Sunnybank area”.

The socials are now on the hunt for the listing address and “more than happy to report it to the council”.
