57 Lynch Crescent, Brighton - for herald sun real estate

Ex-AFL player Max Hudghton has sold his home at 57 Lynch Crescent, Brighton.

Former Saints defender and assistant coach Max Hudghton and wife Anya have scored a multimillion-dollar sale for their showstopping Brighton house.

After being selected for St Kilda in 1996’s AFL draft, Hudghton played 234 games across 13 seasons with the team.

Following the 2009 Grand Final in which the Saints lost to Geelong, the 2008 all-Australian squad member announced his retirement, but later returned to the game as an assistant coach at Collingwood and St Kilda.

Hudghton, who has a builder’s licence, also runs a construction company.

He built the five-bedroom house at 57 Lynch Cres that was listed with a $10.4m-$11.3m asking range.

The three-storey home, from designer Enzo Campus’s studio Casa62, features four living areas, Italian limestone floors and an entertainment level with a soundproofed media lounge, gym and 660-bottle cellar.

The house has multiple fireplaces including an imported Cheminees Phillipe fireplace.

The kitchen is fitted with a German Bora induction cooktop, Miele appliances and a butler’s pantry with second integrated fridge and freezer.

Dual walk-in wardrobes, a dressing-area, double-shower ensuite and a balcony feature in the main bedroom.

Outdoors, there are a pool, spa, poolside bathroom, sports court to practice basketball and an al fresco kitchen.

The garage has a turntable to help access its seven car spaces.

The residence is set on a 900sq m block.

Kay & Burton Bayside director Matthew Pillios described the residence “as one of the greatest builds I’ve ever seen”.

“I’m unable to comment on the specifics of the sale but it was a fantastic result achieved in just three weeks for a home with a building quality beyond compare,” Mr Pillios said.

The abode was previously listed with a different agency for more than 160 days, records show.

Morrell and Koren buyers advocate Matthew Cleverdon, who is believed to have purchased the house on behalf of a client, confirmed the sale but declined to comment further

In 2013, Hudghton and Anya sold a four-bedroom Hampton house for $4.11m.

Hudghton renovated the house, which features a tennis court.
