The Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor (OWHSP) has laid charges over the deaths of two workers at an underground mine in outback Queensland last year.

Dylan Langridge and Trevor Davis died on February 15, 2023 at the Dugald River zinc mine, 70 kilometres north-west of Cloncurry.

The site's operator MMG and an individual each face a charge of failing to discharge a health and safety obligation under the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act.

The matter is set to be heard at the Cloncurry Magistrates Court on December 13.

In a statement, MMG told the ABC it was reviewing the charges, but it was not appropriate to comment further at this time.

It is not known if MMG will defend the matter.

The ABC has confirmed that the individual charged is an employee of Barminco, the former mining contractor at the site.

A coronial investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
