Sporting idols, well-known entrepreneurs, TV stars and popular influencers have been busy selling and buying property in the Sunshine State.

From beachfront mansions to sky-high apartments and designer homes, when you’ve got the cash to splash there really is no limit when it comes to luxury real estate.

Here are some of the biggest celebrity deals in Queensland this year:

The waterfront home at Helensvale sold for $1.76m.

Aussie TV presenter Sophie Monk sold a riverfront investment property located in the Gold Coast suburb where she attended primary school.

The deal came one month after the Love Island Australia host listed the five-bedroom, three-bathroom Helensvale home.

Property records show the 4,018 sqm parcel in the tightly held Riverdowns Estate changed hands for $1.76m.

National breakfast radio king Kyle Sandilands and wife Tegan Kynaston appeared to have sold their tropical North Qld getaway last month.

Bought by Sandilands for $1.3m during the late 2020 pandemic, the secluded 2000-built retreat in Port Douglas sits at the highest point of the holding surrounded by tropical rainforest with views from the entertaining deck, which has a wet edge pool and pizza oven.

It went under offer after 106 days on market.

One of the Gold Coast’s most well-known music stars Amy Shark offloaded her Gold Coast waterfront home earlier this year.

The eight-time ARIA award winner bought the waterfront home with husband Shane Billings in Broadbeach almost six years ago.

They first tried renting it out for $2,300 a week to keep the home, before conceding a sale would be a better option given the reality of a massive music program over the year.

“The Gold Coast will always be home for me,” she said.

“But I’m looking forward to spending more time in Sydney and basing myself there for the foreseeable future.”

Tennis star Ash Barty bought a unit in the Kloud tower at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.

Among celebrity property sales and purchases this year was Aussie tennis superstar Ash Barty who scored a lavish beachfront apartment on the Gold Coast.

The Wimbledon champion splashed close to $4m to secure a half-floor sky home within the striking 41.25m-high tower, currently under construction at Palm Beach.

The 12-storey apartment building, named Kloud, showcases cutting-edge design and marks a first foray into the Glitter Strip luxury market for celebrity developer Graya.

Surf champion Mick Fanning sold his designer beachside home built around an indoor skate ramp.

The sale price of the three-time world champion surfer’s Gold Coast pad has been kept under warps although it’s understood to be north of $4m.

Fanning splashed $3m on the 2018-built house in 2021, with home values surging about 35 per cent since then, according to PropTrack data

Brisbane Broncos superstar and State of Origin player Reece Walsh secured a sprawling Gold Coast estate earlier this year.

The rugby league fullback snapped up the 5433 sqm property for $1.88m after the owners dropped their asking price to “meet the market”, according to the sale listing.

Described as a haven for multi-generational living or a savvy investment opportunity, the estate located on the city’s northern fringe comprised three separate dwellings in a bush setting.

Another Broncos player, Pat Carrigan, secured a retro-style home in one of the Gold Coast’s most popular beachside markets for $1.6m.

The lock nabbed the three-bedroom Burleigh Waters pad from among four other interested buyers who had also made offers for the 1975-built property.

Carrigan, a Queensland Origin star touted as a future Broncos captain, bought a post-war home in Brisbane in 2019 but now enjoys his free time on the Gold Coast.

Broncos player Payne Haas snapped up a family home near Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane for $3.55m.

The home is designed for big families, with high-end appliances, a butler’s pantry and an open plan across the ground floor from the kitchen and living zone into the alfresco space with barbecue, pool and lawn area.

There are multiple living rooms, five bedrooms and three bathrooms with a stunning 5 metre ceiling in the master suite.

The glamorous couple placed the winning $2.856 million bid for the Hawthorne showstopper.

On a 810sq m block, the early 1900s residence has six bedrooms, three bathrooms and original features such as soaring ceilings, traditional VJ boards and timber floors.

Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus’s family sold their home in Chelmer earlier this year.

The Titmus family made up of Channel 7 newsreader Stephen Titmus, wife Robyn, Ariarne and sister Mia had been juggling multiple tasks during the 2024 Paris games, including supporting the Australian swimming campaign, open homes for the sale of their beloved custom-built Brisbane home, plus renting out their Gold Coast apartment.

The Brisbane home fetched $2.41m in a deal sealed in the same week as the family celebrated parents Steve and Robyn’s 28th wedding anniversary.

The couple made a nice profit on what they paid for the Mermaid Beach townhouse three years ago.

The couple, who tied the knot on season six of the Channel 9 series in 2018, bought the property for $550,000.

Queensland’s richest man Clive Palmer dropped $45 million on beachfront real estate on the Gold Coast within a matter of days, smashing the city’s property record in the process.

The billionaire and former politician splashed $28 million on a huge 1214sq m tropical oasis on Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach in February.

He is also understood to be the buyer of another beachfront home on Albatross Ave, Mermaid Beach which traded off-market last week for $16.95 million.

Radio host Alan Jones sold an apartment in Brisbane.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom 190sq m two-level Lower River Terrace apartment cost $200,000 in 1987.

The 1985 complex comes with a pool, spa, barbecue area and a full-size tennis court.

An absolute beachfront site at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast sold for $40m

Former AFL player-turned-investor Tony Smith has scored a $40m landmark deal with the sale of a triple beachfront block at Palm Beach.

The record-breaking Gold Coast sale represented a stunning uplift of more than 100 per cent in three years for former Sydney Swans player Mr Smith, 58, who is reaping the rewards since shifting focus from Mermaid Beach’s ‘Multi-millionaire’s Row’ of Hedges Ave to the southern beaches in 2021.

A Brisbane buyer splashed more than $40m on the 1525 sqm site over three titles on Jefferson Lane and Fourth Ave, which currently hosts a 1960s shack, a pole house, and a villa.

Sisters-in-law Thessy Batsinilas and Yiota Kouzoukas are also co-founders of property developer, Ature Group, under which they created ‘Ilios’ — a Mediterranean-inspired house at 92 Fingal St, Tarragindi.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home was sold after three months on the market.

The property features a combination of high-end finishes, a neutral colour palette, and sleek curves to emulate the liveable luxury of Thessy and Yiota’s Greek roots.

A luxurious Sunshine Coast home owned by a sneaker blogger with a celebrity following sold for a suburb record of close to $3.5m.

Pete Moore of House of Heat sold his ‘forever home’ at 11 Bronze Wing Circuit, Peregian Springs to an interstate buyer after an international marketing campaign.

Followers of Mr Moore’s viral blog include the likes of actor and comedian Kevin Hart, former pro basketballer Carmelo Anthony and rapper Nelly.

A few celebrities also tested the market this year although didn’t manage to secure a sale.

The couple listed their stunning Palm Springs-inspired home up for auction, three years after they splurged $4.305 million on the Burleigh Heads stunner.

The property, one of the most viewed residential listings in the state this year, didn’t sell under the hammer and remains on the market.

Culture Kings founders Simon Beard and his wife Tah-nee are tyring to sell their Surfers Paradise penthouse after the recent completion of their Gold Coast mega-mansion makeover.

The global streetwear fashion brand founders purchased the Soul tower penthouse for a then record $15.25m in mid-2021 from Andrew Koloadin, a few months after they sold their stake in Culture Kings for around $600m.

The penthouse has a $30m price tag.

Tobacco tycoon Travers Beynon is selling his Candy Shop Mansion

Multi-millionaire playboy Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon has been trying to sell his infamous Candy Shop Mansion all year.

This month he slashed the price of the flashy riverfront compound.

The tobacco tycoon is chasing offers from $18m-$20m for the Baroque-inspired party palace, which previously languished on the market with a price guide as high as $25m.
