The Rocket League PS4 Pro update will hit on February 21st and bring with it support for 4K visuals, along with 60 FPS framerate. The update will also enhance the experience for regular PS4 owners, making it so that the game will run at 1080p and 60 FPS on all arenas on that console. The game will even run at 60 FPS in three and four player splitscreen, though it seems like the more visually intense maps might not allow it. The update is being put together by Psyonix’s development partner, Panic Button.

Rocket League has become one of the biggest games in the world, after launching to relative quiet from the gaming public. First offered as a free download on PS4 via PlayStation Plus, the game quickly built up a cult following, and word of mouth spread quickly, resulting in millions of downloads during the PS Plus promotion period. Even once the game went back to Rocket League Items a paid download, fans continued gobbling it up, resulting in it remaining on the best seller list for over a year now.
