Van Diemen’s Land director Jonathan auf der Heide and his director partner Katie Found have sold their Carlton North home for one of the suburb’s top prices.

The circa-1880s four-bedroom pad at 680 Drummond St fetched $4.915m at auction — $415,000 above upper expectations after being listed with a $4.1m-$4.5m price guide.

CoreLogic records show the couple purchased house for $3.525m in 2019, with the latest sale an impressive $1.39m above this price in just a few years.

Auf der Heide is a producer, screenwriter, director and actor whose documentary ‘Ukraine Is Not A Brothel’ screened at the Venice International Film Festival and won a 2015 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts award for best feature length documentary.

He was a director on the short film collection The Turning, based on the best-selling novel by Australian author Tim Winton, in which Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, Richard Roxburgh, Rose Byrne and Susie Porter appeared.

As a performer, auf der Heide starred in That’s Not Me alongside Toni Collette and appeared in television programs including Offspring, City Homicide, Blue Heelers, Stingers, John Safran Vs God, Tom White and Em4Jay.

Found’s debut feature My First Summer, which auf der Heide worked on as a producer, premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival and was screened at several other festivals.

The only Carlton North houses that have fetched a higher price are a four-bedroom home at 460 Rathdowne St which sold for $5.6m in 2021 and another four-bedroom abode at 1032 Drummond St which sold for $5.255m in 2017, according to CoreLogic.
