Would you grill a steak in a toaster? Would you like to roast your own coffee beans at home?

Well, the latest kitchen tech and cooking innovations can do this and much more, including serving up home-made ice cream from a pod and a handy cocktail robot that can whip up your favourite drink.

These gourmet gadgets were on show at the world's largest technology expo, CES, earlier this year and were quick to set tongues wagging.

So if you’re hungry for the latest cooking tech, take a look at these kitchen must-haves of the future.

Did you say steak toaster?

Grilling a steak is an art form to many.

But a new AI-powered grill that looks like an oversized toaster turned on its side claims to cook mouth-watering cuts perfectly with the touch of a button.

The makers of the Seergrills perfecta grill claims it can cook the perfect steak in 90 seconds.

The Seergrills perfecta grill reportedly uses AI to cook more than 50 types of food in under three minutes.

“We noticed there is often difficulty and inconsistency in cooking food; it’s mostly always overcooked and dry, taking a long time,” Seergrills chief executive Suraj Sudera said.

“So, we decided to use our skills and knowledge to apply AI to cook the perfect steak and set up Seergrills.”

The device can reportedly use AI to cook more than 50 types of food in under three minutes.

You can pre-order this super grill, but beware it will reportedly set you back about US$3,500, according to media sources.

Roast your own coffee beans

Die-hard coffee fans are going to love the Bunafr coffee roaster, which takes coffee personalisation to its peak.

At the push of a button, this roaster will roast green coffee beans to precisely to your liking.

The creators of this smokeless roaster claim its technology is fully automated and will understand the beans it is roasting, as well as your taste profile.

The Bunafr coffee roaster will give its owners serious coffee bragging rights.

Anyone new to roasting can take a look at one of their subscriptions for a curated selection of single origins, blends, and remarkable coffees.

For home-roasted coffee, the machine is available for pre-order for US$1,499.

Happy hour at home

The Barsys 360 cocktail robot will make you a cocktail, but you may be disappointed if you’re hoping for C-3PO with a cocktail shaker.

Retailing for US$475, the Barsys 360 looks like a speaker and can craft cocktails by perfectly balancing any six mixers and liquors poured directly into the device.

The Barsys 360 can craft a cocktail for you out of six mixers and liquors.

"When we embarked on this journey, our vision was clear: to transform the way customers experience mixology at home," said Akshet Tewari, Barsys Founder and CEO.

Barsys is committed to pushing the boundaries of mixology in pursuit of the perfect cocktail poured by anyone."

There is also an app offering recipes from mixologists, bars, brands and influencers.

Now here’s a scoop

The ColdSnap ice cream maker is like a coffee-pod machine but for ice cream.

The brand says its machines will make bowls of ice cream in under two minutes by freezing the liquid ice cream within its pods and then dispensing soft-serve ice cream directly into your bowl.

Just pop a pod into the Coldsnap ice cream machine and have tasty ice cream in two minutes.

It uses on-demand single servings of ice cream and other treats, too, such as frozen lattes, protein shakes, smoothies, and frozen cocktails.

“Utilising shelf-stable pods containing extremely clean ice cream ingredients, ColdSnap’s technology freezes premium ice cream on demand to create smooth, rich and creamy ice cream served at soft serve temperatures, a decadent combination that doesn’t exist today,” ColdSnap founder Matthew Fonte said.

Bringing the taste of the great outdoors inside

As the first and purportedly only indoor smoker, the GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker can smoke a variety of foods from the convenience of your kitchen bench.

GE claims the machine uses the same wood pellets as an outdoor pellet grill to give food a delicious wood-smoked flavor, while its active smoke filtration turns the smoke into warm air.

The GE profile smart indoor smoker can reportedly turn smoke into warm air.

Users can adjust the smoke intensity with five adjustable smoke settings, as well as a range of preset food settings for brisket, pork ribs, chicken wings, salmon and more.

“Not only are we simplifying the smoking process, but we are opening it up as a cooking method to a whole new audience who may not have had the time or outdoor space to try smoking food before,” said André Zdanow, executive director of small appliances at GE Appliances.

“From weeknight dinners to cocktail garnishes and home tailgating to peach cobbler, consumers can explore all the possibilities of having an electric smoker that is ready to go at any time.”

It’s brew time

The makers behind the Exobrew craft beer brewer say it’s an all-in-one brewer that cuts out the mess and hassle that typically comes with home brewing.

The appliance, which is on sale for about US$879, not only makes beer – it can also brew kombucha and cider from the comfort of your home.

The Exobrew craft beer brewer could be a big time saver for home brewers.

All you need to do is add the ingredients and this brew master can make about 6-litre (1.6 gallons) batches at a time.

The brand says everything from the start through to the finish happens from a single vessel, with no need for refrigeration.
