SuperCoach tipping winner Dane James reveals his secret to success.
That’s the advice from the current SuperCoach tipping champion Dane James.
Dane is no stranger to SuperCoach, he and his university mates have been playing the Classic version for about five years but decided to add tipping to their fantasy repertoire.
And that decision paid off handsomely with Dane taking home a $20,000 cash price for his efforts throughout the season.
“To begin it was a bit of a gut instinct kind of thing for the first 10-15 rounds,” said the 32-year old.

“I didn’t read too much into the stats or things like that because you can confuse yourself and over think things so I kept it simple.
“Which ever team I thought would win on form I’d tip them.
“If I was getting tips right during the weekend then I wouldn’t go in and change any of them because if I did change them I found that the chances are the team I changed too would lose, a bit of Murphy’s Law there.”
According to Dane, the key to winning is a simple one: Bonus points!
Tipsters receive a bonus two points for tipping a full round, and he thinks scoring the extra points help give you an edge against other players.

“The key strategy was getting the bonus points in the shortened rounds, so I made sure I was getting those right so I would get the extra two points to try and jump up a few places,” he said.
Dane tipped his way into the top 10 midway through the season and he says from there he developed a kind of ‘sixth sense’ and he ‘just knew who was going to win’.
“For probably the last 10 rounds I just knew who was going to win, I got into a really good rhythm,” he said.
“I was getting close with around 12 rounds to go, I hit the top 10 and thought I could really make the most of it.
“I hit first position in round 17 or 18 and I knew if I got to the top spot I could hang on long enough.”
Remarkably after holding on to the number one position for so long he dropped to second spot in round 24 but Dane was able to hold his nerve and reclaim the winning position the next week.
“I lost my top spot to go to second in round 24,” he said.
“I did [get nervous] but I knew if I could just tip one extra then I could regain the top spot and I did that in round 25 and held on in round 26.”
The primary school teacher wasted no time spending his cash prize, which went to some very worthy causes
“It’s already gone,” he said.
“It went on buying some things for my new house that was being built during the season and went into an ankle reconstruction I needed.”
