Australia will meet football powerhouse Brazil at the MCG in June in the lead-up to the Confederations Cup.

The Socceroos will face the five-time World Cup champions on June 13 in a friendly, with the South American giants in Melbourne for a blockbuster clash with Argentina four days earlier.

Australia will be coming off a World Cup qualification match against Saudi Arabia on June 8.

Brazil has no shortage of world superstars, with Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Oscar and Dani Alves expected to draw thousands through the gates.

The Socceroos were handed a football lesson in their last meeting with the world number two-ranked side in 2013 when Brazil won 6-0 in Brasilia.

The result contributed to former coach Holger Osieck's sacking by Football Federation Australia the same year.

The Socceroos are expected to fly to Russia the day after the Brazil clash for their Confederations Cup campaign, beginning in Sochi on June 19 where the task does not get any easier against world champions Germany.
