THIS design icon by one of the founders of modernism in Australian architecture, Harold Desbrowe Annear, has been updated with an award-winning renovation and extension.

Desbrowe Annear’s distinctive circular porch and trademark stepped chimney shafts are on show at the front of the heritage protected Sallman House, which is located at 104 Kooyong Rd, Armadale.

A contemporary two-storey addition shines at the back, letting northern light into the home through vast expanses of glass overlooking lush gardens and a pool.

The 1922 home’s sustainable makeover by EME Design’s Luke Middleton earned it the Best Heritage Renovation award from the Building Designers Association of Victoria.

With four bedrooms, four bathrooms and three garage spaces the proportions of this home make it must for family buyers looking to live the high life.

The property is set to go under the hammer on March 30 at 6.30pm and has price expectations in excess of $4.5 million. Darren Lewenberg, of Kay & Burton, South Yarra, is handling the sale.
