UPDATE: A WOMAN has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a horror crash in Melbourne’s west.
All outbound lanes of the Princes Fwy were closed after five cars and one truck collided at Palmers Rd, Point Cook about 2.30pm.
The driver of the car she was travelling in died at the scene.
Ambulance Victoria said the woman, aged in her 30s, was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with head injures.
Paramedics assessed 13 other people, but they did not need treatment.
Emergency services are expected to clear the scene about 4.30pm — but Vic Roads said extensive delays were expected.
Outbound lanes of the Princes Fwy are banked up to the West Gate Freeway, with traffic also banking up on the Western Ring Rd.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area or take exits before Palmers Rd.
VicRoads said drivers who take the Point Cook Rd exit can then use Sneydes Rd to get back onto the Princes Fwy.
Victoria’s road toll stands at 45, 28 fewer than at the same time last year.
Police said the driver was yet to be formally identified.
