It is understood a motorcyclist has died after a "serious" crash west of Mount Glorious on Tuesday.

Paramedics were called to Northbrook Parkway at Dundas, near D'Aguillar State Forest, to a single motorbike crash just before midday.

The rider was assessed by paramedics however no transport to hospital was made.

Police said they were called to the "serious traffic crash" just after 1pm.

The road remained closed at 2.30pm and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
