Ardent Leisure chief executive Simon Kelly will step down after only six months in the job in the latest of many changes to the embattled theme park-leisure centre operator's leadership group and board.

Ardent, which recently named veteran corporate raider Gary Weiss as the group's new chairman, did not disclose any reason for Mr Kelly's resignation, but said it would promptly start a search for a new chief executive.

"The board of directors is disappointed with Simon's resignation and would like to thank him for his contribution to the group and wish him well in the future," Dr Weiss, who became Ardent's chairman in September, said in a statement on Wednesday.
