The Australian share market has opened lower as two of the four big banks trade ex-dividend, and following a largely negative lead from Wall Street.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 0.26 per cent at 6,014 points by 1030 AEDT on Monday.
Patersons Securities economist Tony Farnham says the major drag on the market is Westpac and ANZ both going ex-dividend on Monday.
