EVER seen an apartment with more floors than bedrooms?
A new St Kilda offering might have just one bedroom, but with a floorplan that spans two floors and a marble fireplace, it’s a rarity in a part of the world known for unique abodes.
The property at 1/146 St Kilda Rd, St Kilda, resides in a former light shop and feels like a ballroom when you first walk in, according to McGrath St Kilda’s Nicole Prime.
“When you walk in you feel you are walking into a grand ballroom,” Ms Prime said.
“It’s got 16 foot ceilings, it’s 80sq m and the bones are great.”
She said the apartment could benefit from a cosmetic update, but retained plenty of period charm from its Victorian era beginnings.

Timber floors, decorative cornices and an ornamental marble fireplace are all still on show.
The bedroom, set behind a screening wall on a mezzanine level of the apartment, comes with a sitting area and a walk-in wardrobe.
It is also zoned for both commercial and residential use.
“It has had lots of inquiry and the interest has been a mixed bag between residential and commercial,” Ms Prime said.
“You could run a hairdressing salon out of it.”
Set near the corner of Alma Rd it is close to parks, as well as popular shopping and cafe strips nearby.
The apartment does not come with a carpark on title.
A price between $380,000 and $415,000 is expected.
