COMPARED to other developments in the southeast like Meriton’s Pagewood Green, this development in Maroubra is tiny ... and yet buyers seem to be going crazy for it.

Aoyuan International’s Maison 188 Maroubra residential development is only seven-storeys high and has already sold 50 out of it’s 57 apartments — and they haven’t even been built yet.

The top concrete slab was poured last week at the topping off ceremony and McGrath Projects director Dennis Vertzayias said it was a milestone for the project.

“This means the builders are able to remove the scaffolding and work on the interior fit outs,” he said.

Mr Vertzayias said 90 per cent of interested buyers have been locals.

“It’s the quality that has been drawing them in,” Mr Vertzayias said.

The development includes rooftop gardens with district views, a barbecue entertainment area and an associated retail section.

The development is architecturally designed by Marchese Partners and built by TQM Design & Construction.

Maison 188 is in the heart of Maroubra’s commercial hub and is about five minutes away from Maroubra Beach.

Mr Vertzayias said that it’s the buildings structure that is attracting the most buyers.

“People are moving away from large buildings and you can see the local market gravitating towards petite buildings like this,” he said.

The development is set to be completed towards the end of the year.
