A businessman accused of raping two women he met on a fetish website is one step closer to facing trial over the allegations after a magistrate found there was enough evidence to convince a jury of the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

Liam Gordon Murphy, 42, who used the online pseudonym The Wolf, has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after he allegedly met up with one of the women at a Kings Cross hotel in August 2015.

On Monday, Downing Centre Local Court heard the pair had spoken on FetLife, a networking website for people with fetishes, and the encounter began consensually.

However, the woman allegedly tried to end it when she was repeatedly hit with a cable, which made her cry. Mr Murphy allegedly continued, despite the woman shouting a safe word "red", physically moving away from him, and saying "please don't hit me again, don't touch me".
