The Raiders rob the Roosters the chance to stay on top of the NRL ladder with a 14-12 triumph, while a late field goal gives the Bulldogs a 27-26 win over the Warriors.

Raiders edge out Roosters in thriller

The Raiders have provided a hurdle for the Sydney Roosters' in their chase of the minor premiership with a 14-12 upset victory at Canberra Stadium.

The Roosters could have gone a game clear on top of the ladder with a win in Canberra.

Instead, their poor record in the nation's capital continued, where they have not won since 2010.

The Roosters are locked in a three-way battle at the top of the table for the minor premiership with Melbourne and South Sydney.

The Storm are ahead because of their superior points difference.

Trent Robinson's team had a chance to score in the final minute as they charged in attack, but a knock-on turned the ball over to see the Raiders home and reverse their 2018 fortunes in close games.

Unlike most games featuring the Raiders this season, defence reigned supreme as Ricky Stuart's team held the Roosters scoreless in the first half.

The Raiders led 12-0 at the break thanks to an early try for winger Jordan Rapana before half-back Sam Williams slotted three penalty goals in windy conditions.

But the Roosters were never going to wilt as captain Boyd Cordner found a gap in a sleepy Raiders defence just a few minutes into the second half.

Roosters lock Victor Radley levelled the scores with a diving try in the 60th minute, but the Raiders were not done as Williams put his team back in front with another penalty goal.

That is where the score would stay, as the Raiders secured their ninth win of the season and maintained their position in 10th on the ladder.

The Raiders had to deal with Luke Bateman and Brad Abbey going off for head injury assessments, forcing five-eighth Blake Austin to move to full-back.

Lewis fires Bulldogs to win over Warriors

Canterbury young gun Lachlan Lewis has slotted a clutch field goal to post a 27-26 win over the Warriors and throw a speed bump in front of their finals ambitions.

The Bulldogs upset the Warriors after their five-eighth booted a 30-metre one-pointer in the 79th minute to quell a Warriors fight-back at Sydney's Olympic stadium.

The visitors rallied from 20-12 down at half-time to lock up the scores with three minutes remaining.

But Lewis, who turned 22 on Sunday, showed nerves of steel to slot the the winner for his side's seventh victory of the year.

The result leaves the Warriors two wins ahead of the ninth-placed Wests Tigers with two games remaining.

The Warriors must win either of their contests against Penrith and Canberra to assure their first finals berth since 2011.

They also blew a chance to move into a share of fourth with St George Illawarra, Penrith and Cronulla on 30 points.

After the Warriors trailed 20-12 at the break, David Fusitu'a dotted down to reduce the margin to four after Will Hopoate turned the ball over on his own try line.

The Bulldogs swiftly replied when Brett Morris leapt over Fusitu'a to bat the ball back for twin Josh to make it 26-16 after 53 minutes.

Fusitu'a moved to second on the NRL's try scorers list for the season when Shaun Johnson fired a cut-out pass to make room for him on the outside to set up a grandstand finish.

And when Adam Blair took the ball to the line and popped a late offload in traffic to Peta Hiku, the scores were locked up 26-26 with three-and-a-half minutes remaining.

But just when the Warriors looked like they were on the march, Lewis slotted the winner for one of the Bulldogs' best wins of the season.

The Bulldogs led 20-12 at half-time after Lewis scored on the back of a Kerrod Holland break.
