Nirpal Dhaliwal penned the piece titled: “The unfairer sex: Women! Stop whinging about ‘manspreading’ — you’re guilty of so many annoying habits like bag-spreading and squeezing spots on the bus” for the UK news site.

The article was in response to footage of feminist activists pouring bleach on the crotches of men “manspreading” on public transport going viral this week.

Some commenters have praised the article, writing, “About time too, the double standards we (men) have to put up with are ridiculous.”

Others have slammed the author, saying his opinion is tone deaf.

SINCE when was it okay to sling a bottle full of bleach over a stranger’s crotch just because their legs are a little widely spread?

Well, this is what some feminist activists filmed themselves doing as the war against “manspreading” — also known as sitting comfortably — reached ridiculous new heights.

This protest totally ignores all the everyday discrimination men have to put up with, all the things that we can’t “call out” for fear of being labelled a sexist. Well, it’s time to make a stand.

Women of the world: do you think we don’t feel queasy seeing you file your nails in public, shedding possibly infectious skin and other debris over a public space?

It’s fair to say that none of your fellow commuters want to get that on their fingers — and then into their mouths. Then there’s those that squeeze their disgusting spots on the bus.

As for women brushing their hair on the train: since when did public transport turn into a salon?

And why is it okay for you to make yourselves up in public when no man would think of giving himself a shave or brushing his teeth during his commute?

And then there are the bags. Whenever you’re on a bus and you see a seat stacked high with shopping bags, even though there’s barely room for you to sit down, you can bet that it’ll be a member of the “fairer” sex behind it.

From holding open doors so you can saunter through first to giving up their seats on buses and trains, men are also expected to perform countless gallantries that women are spared.

Imagine being a man on a sinking ship and hearing the cry “women and children first”.

We find survival under water just as difficult as women, but no one takes that into account — as any Titanic fan will know.

And when it comes to wars, men are still overwhelmingly expected to fight and die in them.

This self-sacrifice takes place at home too. When there’s a noise in the night, who’s expected to get out of bed and see what it is?

When a man can hand his girlfriend a baseball bat and tell her to go and check if there’s a break-in, that will be the time when equality of the sexes has truly arrived.

Given how routinely men are expected to risk their lives for women, surely we can be allowed to relax and spread a little in public?

It’s no surprise that we’re more depressed and even suicidal than ever.

No one goes out their way to make a man’s life easier.

I’d never dream of asking a woman on a train to let me take her seat because I’ve had an especially tough day.

No one lets us into the clubs for free, and when we do get inside we’re never served ahead of the ladies — even though we’re there buying drinks for other women.

Women who will then complain about the length of time we took at the bar.

Plus, a man can never go out with an empty wallet in the expectation that a flutter of his eyelashes and putting on a kittenish voice will get him taken care of.

Women are always asking men for information — on how to use technology, directions, fixing things and countless other issues — but when a man starts to offer his insight on a topic she already knows something about, he’s accused of being a patronising mansplainer.

Don’t these women think men get annoyed being asked to solve every query a woman has in the first place?

So ladies, please quit the general man-bashing. Men have a long list of things they could gripe about regarding you too.
