The 2018 Financial Review Young Rich List has been announced, and for the seventh year, Atlassian co-founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar have claimed the top two positions.

The pair have also smashed the previous Young Rich List wealth record, which they held, with a combined total of $14.2 billion up from $6.08 billion.

Cannon-Brookes and Farquhar’s combined wealth is more than 14 times the combined wealth of the next two names on the 2018 Young Rich List.

Melbourne-based property developer Tim Gurner took out third rank on the list with wealth of $631 million, and Ori Allon, founder of Orion (which was acquired by Google) and Julpan (which was acquired by Twitter) came in fourth, with a wealth of $539 million.

Others listed this year’s 100 Young Rich-Listers include fitness entrepreneur Kayla Itsines and her fiancé Tobi Pearce, former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith and F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.

The total wealth of this year’s list has risen by more than $10 billion from $13.2 billion in 2017.

The average wealth per person on the list is $95 million, excluding the wealth of Atlassian’s CEOs, and the average age is 35.

Falling off the list in 2018 is former GetSwift CEO Joel Macdonald and Matt Berriman, co-founder of Unlockd, whose companies went into voluntary administration this year.

Stylerunner co-founder Julie Stevanja has dropped off because of equity deals that has lowered her individual stake in the business, according to the AFR.

The biggest sectors represented in this year’s list are technology, finance and sport.

The Financial Review Young Rich is a list of wealthiest self-made Australians aged 40 and under. Those who have inherited their wealth do not qualify.

The AFR will publish the full top 100 list at 6.00am tomorrow, October 26.
