A bushfire has caused significant damage to a major bridge in WA’s Great Southern region.

King River Bridge sustained the damage on Sunday after what is believed to be a deliberately lit fire.

The bridge connects Chester Pass Road and the Albany town centre, and was reopened by Main Roads WA on Monday morning.

It has been reduced to a single lane, and traffic delays are expected while crews work to restore the structure.
