Consider yourself a bit of a neat freak? You’ll want to take a look at this immaculately-presented Eden Hills property.

Consider yourself a bit of a neat freak? Then feast your eyes on this immaculately organised and perfectly-presented property in Eden Hills.

The home, at 143 Shepherds Rd, has been in the same family for well over 65 years built from scratch by the Darwin family.

Meticulously maintained over the years, it includes multiple built-in shelves, fresh white-toned decor, manicured gardens and lots of natural light.

Then there is the amazing workshop, with custom-made shadow board for tool storage on the walls (and yes the tools can come with the house).

Vendor Pauline McPharlin said the iconic property, well known among locals in the area, was a labour of love for her family.

“It’s on solid rock on a hill and the excavator broke down on the first day (of building) and refused to come back, so my dad spent the next two years with a pick and shovel excavating,” she said.

“Dad kept all the rocks from excavation for dry stone walls, but there were so many snakes that he ended up getting Carey Gully stones and redid all the walls, it took him 14 years.”

Although elements of the home have been updated by Mrs McPharlin, such as the cork floors and light fittings, most of the home remains in pristine original condition.

“My dad made all the kitchen cupboards, doors and woodwork from Silky Oak, nothing has ever been replaced,” Mrs McPharlin said.

Raine & Horne Real Estate agent Michael McDonald said the property had attracted more than 60 groups through at opens so far, with buyers attracted to the feel of the home.

“The northern aspect is absolutely brilliant with floor to ceiling windows in the main living area,” he said.

“The presentation and feel of the home, even given it’s age, it’s just got that beautiful feeling throughout.”

Although Mr McDonald said some potential buyers were looking to develop, most were wanting to live in the home in it’s current condition.

“The quality and workmanship that’s gone into this house isn’t really common for the area, normally when you get a Basket Range home it’s only fronted — this one is completely covered,” he said.

The home also includes a self-contained granny flat, which Mr McDonald said was attracting buyers looking to live with extended family.

Other stand out features include the living and meals area, which connects to a balcony with the wrought iron balustrade made by Mrs McPharlin’s dad, and the original pink terrazzo bathroom.
